South, Yellow Wisdom
Yellow—Opening Our Heart to Our World
This wisdom is associated with the color yellow, the season of autumn, the direction South, and the element of Earth. The Buddha that represents all these in human-like form is known as Ratnasambhava, a title that means Born from a Jewel, or Very Generous. He is sitting in lotus posture, holding a brilliant jewel. The wisdom he is portraying is Equanimity, suggesting that when we see our world more clearly, we see a kind of abundant evenness, and we gain confidence that we can work with it all. Our life is more generous because we don’t hold back.
You can read about how we sometimes seem to get stuck in this energy on page 144 and 148 of my book, Getting Back to Wholeness, and some ways to work with it on pages 159-160.
